In 2003, the journal Diabetes Care published the results of a study showing a slightly increased risk of breast cancer in women who had been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Researchers at Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea, looked at 760 women and compared their cancer stages with their need for insulin... a total of 26.4 percent had insulin resistance. In patients, past menopause, those with insulin resistance had larger and more advanced tumors than those with normal insulin sensitivity. big and advanced tumors were not the case for women who had not had menopause. From the above information, it was suggested insulin resistance could cause tumor progression and should be taken into account when treatment is planned.
